Product Carbon Footprint Engine
The Product Carbon Footprint Engine is a product-based carbon calculation module that enables you to calculate the carbon footprint of your products and production processes in compliance with ISO 14067. It centralizes lifecycle emissions for manufacturing, R&D, sustainability, and sales teams and provides a net, comparable CO₂e value for each product.
Obtain separate, comparable, and repeatable carbon footprint results for each product
Use ready-to-present product-level carbon footprint data when requested by large buyers, export clients, or retail chains.
Helps create a robust foundation for labeling, Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) preparation, and verification processes due to alignment with ISO 14067 and related lifecycle standards.
Compare different materials, suppliers, or production scenarios to make design and manufacturing decisions that lower carbon footprints.
Product-level results can be directly shared with CCAS™ modules such as the CBAM Technical Data & Reporting Toolkit and Carbon Simulation & Reduction Lab, ensuring alignment of product and corporate carbon data.
Once a calculation approach is defined, it can be easily applied to similar product groups; new products can be onboarded with fast, consistent outcomes.
What exactly does this module calculate?
The Product Carbon Footprint Engine calculates the per-unit carbon footprint (CO₂e) of your selected product or product group, considering inputs such as raw materials, energy, transport, packaging, and waste. It provides net and comparable results on a product basis.
What data do I need to input, and is our existing data usually sufficient enough?
Generally, production volumes, materials used, energy consumption, logistics, and packaging data are sufficient. These are often already in your ERP, production, or purchasing systems. The module supports both template and integration-based imports.
If my supplier or raw material data is incomplete, can I still get meaningful results?
Yes. Complete supplier data is not required initially. Default emission factors, industry averages, or general databases can be used as needed. As supplier data improves through SupplySense™, your product carbon footprint calculations automatically become more detailed and realistic.
Where can I use results from this module?
Product-level carbon results can be used in customer proposals, export and retailer requests, tender documents, product labeling, EPD preparation, CBAM declarations, and bank/green finance applications. By working with CCAS™’s CBAM Technical Data & Reporting Toolkit and ComplianceIQ™, the same technical data can be reused across compliance and finance workflows.
Do we need to be an LCA or carbon expert to use this module?
No, it’s not required. The system simplifies the process with ready-made templates, sample datasets, and step-by-step screens. More experienced teams can, if they wish, incorporate their own emission factors, data sources, and preferred approach to take the work to a more detailed level.
